Problem

THE CHALLENGE

One of their plants Meheta Tubes is equipped with few furnaces, among them one of the furnace is used for Copper & copper Nickel alloy rod annealing. The tubes of various diameter ranging from 25 mm to 75 mm

The company is mainly servicing the automotive and general engineering industry Meheta Tubes having Gas supply  as Fuel for these furnaces but using Electric heating for this furnace to get better uniformity in rods used for extrusion.

Short life elements caused production problems

The previous heating system used in this furnace with Kanthal  A1 spiral elements in grooved ceramic did not work satisfactory with frequest break-downs and short life. The production process was consequently difficult to plan because of numerous shut-downs to cool down the furnace and change elements.

Solution

ASANJO SOLUTION

Asanjo heating systems has been called for solution to the problems and they proposed APM heating system side elements on ceramic hooks instead of grooved bricks and roof elements were designed coil ceramic tubes which were on ‘J’ type hanging at roof.

Result

LONG LIFE AND UNDISTURB PRODUCTION

The primary advantage of the APM elements is due to form stability at higher temperature it is not bunching at ends and failure reduced due to this. The scaling of material is not sitting in grooved bricks as elements are having gap between coil and wall

The changeover was uncomplicated and not much change is required to do from earlier design of heating

This system is installed in Sep2015 and since then after one year no spare elements order came. Also Meheta Tubes called again to design their new furnace
